Effective October 28, 2026
This policy explains what Moving Average, Inc. ("we") collects through movingavg.com, why, and the choices you have. It covers this website. Our iPhone apps have their own license agreement.
What we collect
What you send us. When you fill in a form on this site, we keep what you typed:
- The contact and call-request forms: your name, email address, company or role, your message, and the page you sent it from.
- Email sign-up: your email address and the page you signed up on.
- The AI IP risk assessment: your name, email address, company, role, company size, and your answers.
With each form we also store a scrambled (salted hash) version of your IP address instead of the address itself. We use it only to block spam.
What your browser sends. Like most websites, our host records basic request data such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you load. We use your country, which our host supplies, to decide whether to ask for cookie consent before the cookies below load.
Cookies. We use two kinds of third-party cookies and tags:
- Google Analytics tells us which pages people read, roughly where they are, and what device they use. We look at totals. Google Analytics identifies visitors by a random ID, not by name.
- The LinkedIn Insight Tag runs on every page. It sends LinkedIn the page address, the page you came from, your IP address, browser and device details, and the time. LinkedIn may match a visit to a LinkedIn member, including across devices where that person is signed in to LinkedIn. LinkedIn gives us only totals, such as the job titles and industries of visitors, and never tells us who you are. The tag lets us measure our LinkedIn ads and show them to people who have visited this site.
In the EU and UK, these two load only if you accept them. Everywhere else they load automatically, and you can turn them off below.
We don't run ads on this site. Our pages also load fonts from Google, and a few load App Store badges from Apple or embedded LinkedIn posts. These load for everyone, whatever you choose about cookies. Google, Apple, and LinkedIn receive your IP address and browser details when they do, and LinkedIn may set its own cookies from an embedded post.
How we use it
- To reply to you and to deliver what you asked for, such as a call, an assessment, or email updates.
- To send email you signed up for. Every email lets you unsubscribe, or you can just reply and ask.
- To see which pages are useful and to measure and target our LinkedIn ads.
- To keep the site secure and free of spam.
If you are in the EU or UK, our legal bases are: your consent, for analytics and ad cookies and for email you sign up for; taking the steps you ask for, when we reply to you or deliver a call or assessment; and our legitimate interests in running and securing the site, for spam protection, hosting, fonts, and embedded content.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your personal information. We share it only with these companies:
- Google: website hosting, our database, email, fonts, and Google Analytics.
- LinkedIn: the Insight Tag and embedded posts, described above.
- Apple: the App Store badges on our app pages.
- Pushover, which sends form submissions to our phones, and Mesh, the contact manager where we keep notes on people we work with.
- Stripe, SavvyCal, and Zoom, if you pay for a program, book a call, or join a session. You give your details to them directly, on their pages.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights.
Some US state laws treat letting LinkedIn use cookies for ad targeting as "sharing" personal information. You can opt out of it as described below.
Your choices
Cookies on this site: Turn on JavaScript to see your setting.
- Turn cookies off with the button above. Your choice is saved in this browser. Cookies set earlier stay until you clear them in your browser.
- Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends this signal, we treat it as an opt-out and don't load the LinkedIn Insight Tag.
- EU and UK visitors see a banner first, and neither Google Analytics nor the LinkedIn Insight Tag loads unless you accept.
- LinkedIn and Google have their own settings: LinkedIn ad settings and the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
- See, correct, or delete your information. Ask us through the contact form and we will respond within the time the law requires. We won't treat you differently for asking.
How long we keep it
We keep form submissions and email sign-ups until you ask us to delete them or we no longer need them. Google and LinkedIn keep cookie data according to their own policies.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards, including encrypted connections and restricted access to our database. No system is perfectly secure, so please don't send passwords, health information, or financial account details through our forms.
Children
This site is for business readers. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Where your data is processed
We are based in the United States, and our providers may process your information in the US and other countries.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here and update the date at the top.
