Common questions

How do I save a quote from Kindle, Apple Books, or Safari?

Select the text, tap Share, then choose Passages in the share sheet. The quote lands in your library with the source attached — add the author, publication, or a note any time. If Passages doesn't appear in the share sheet, scroll to the end, tap "More", and enable it.

My quotes aren't syncing between devices.

Passages syncs through your private iCloud database — there's no separate account. Make sure every device is signed into the same Apple Account and that iCloud is enabled for Passages in Settings. Sync usually completes within seconds of opening the app.

How do I put a passage on my home or lock screen?

Long-press your home screen, tap the +, and search for Passages — small, medium, and large widgets show the Passage of the Day. For the lock screen, long-press it, tap Customize, and add the Passages widget. Watch complications work the same way from the watch face editor.

How do I enable the quote keyboard?

Open Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards → Add New Keyboard, and choose Passages. Then tap the globe key in any app to switch to it and insert today's passage into a conversation.

Can I export my library?

Yes — Settings inside the app exports your full database as JSON, and can import one too. Your library is never locked in.
